What Makes Stillwater Equine Veterinary Clinic Special

Stillwater Equine Veterinary Clinics is an 8 doctor ambulatory/referral hospital situated just to the east of the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area.

Located in the heart of a large equine community, we see patients from a wide range of disciplines including Western Performance, English Performance, Standardbred Racing, and pleasure horses among many others.

Our clients are a mix of high end trainers and breeders all the way down to the backyard animals. With a focus on lameness, reproduction, and surgery, our clinic brings in a wide variety of interesting cases on a primary and referral basis from veterinarians across the upper Midwest.

The proximity to a major metropolitan center makes the Stillwater area ideal for its rural roots with quick access to major professional sports, theater, music, and entertainment.

To apply for the internship, an internship application must be submitted through the AAEP Internship Hub. This includes a resume, cover letter, and three letters of reference. Preference is given to candidates who are able to visit in person, but if you are unable to visit, you will still be considered for the internship if a complete application is submitted.

Virtual interviews can be arranged on request as well. Candidates will be notified of our decision at the latest by October 1st, each year.

SEVC Internships

Stillwater Equine Veterinary Clinics (SEVC) has created an Equine Veterinary Internship position for the 2027-2028 Intern cycle.

As a multi-doctor referral and ambulatory equine hospital, SEVC has a long history of high quality medicine in the Upper Midwest. The purpose of the Internship position is to create an opportunity for new graduates to benefit and grow from that history and experience as they develop into successful equine veterinarians with long careers.

The Internship is a mixed hospital and ambulatory experience with a focus on developing a great general practitioner, while also providing opportunities to gain experience in high level surgery, anesthesia, and reproduction for those Interns looking to continue on to specialty residencies.

The ideal candidate is an individual who is looking to grow and develop their brand of veterinary medicine in the first year after graduation. Candidates who value excellence in client communications, continual improvement in veterinary skills, and a holistic training approach to development as a veterinary professional are encouraged to apply.

SEVC Externships

We welcome veterinary students of any year to come spend time with our doctors on an externship. One to two, and multiple week externships are available and can be scheduled by sending an email to students.sevc@gmail.com.  Our best seasons are Spring, Summer, and early Fall prior to Winter.
